Top Ten Tuesday: Beach Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week, we're sharing our top ten beach reads, by however we classify a beach read. For me, a beach read is a light book that won't make me cry, think too much, or make me feel anything other than relaxed and happy. Here are the top eight books that do that for me. (I could only find eight that I've read and would want to read on the beach.)

Twilight (Twilight, #1) For me, Twilight is a book that can take me away from life and I don't have to think about much when reading it. It's not a book that makes me put too much thought into it. I can read it, enjoy the day, and be able to have stopping points anywhere throughout the book. I don't want to be at the beach and be so invested that I can't stop to get in the water.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1)I can't mention a beach read without talking about The Summer I Turned Pretty. Granted, I easily get addicted to this book, becoming so caught up in the story that I wouldn't want to stop reading, it still makes the list. If not a "beach read," it's definitely a summer read. I might get too wrapped up in the book while at the beach, but I'd still want to take it with me.

Magic Hands
Magic Hands is a fast, cute read. Perfect for the beach!

Stupid Cupid (Stupid Cupid, #1)Stupid Cupid is another fast, cute, and fluffy book. It's enjoyable and makes me keep turning the pages. It's a light book and it would be a good way to enjoy my time at the beach.

Love Means ZeroLove Means Zero is a drama-filled read for the inner gossipers inside of us. That's sort of how I've always pictured this book. It's addicting, but not so much so that I can't put it down if I were at the beach. Another great book to dive into while laying in the sun.

Off Limits (Off Series, #2)I chose Off Limits as one of my beach reads mainly because if I'm going to spend all day out in the hot sun, I want to read about Nix and his hot self. Definitely someone something I want to get lost in at the beach. Love Nix!

Losing It (Losing It, #1)Losing It is a beach read for me because it's steamy. Another hot book that I would want to read on the beach for the great characters and story.

Love and LeftoversLove & Leftovers is on the list because I feel like a bystander when reading this book. I don't feel like I'm caught up in the whirlwind of the story, just someone standing a few feet away, watching it all go down. For that reason, I think it's a good beach read. Plus, it's in verse and a quick read.

These are my top picks for a beach read. What are yours?

  1. Yes! I'm glad someone else feels the same way about Twilight as I do. And I really need to check out The Summer I Turned Pretty. Great list!
